Working Mothers
"My manager allowed me to have the flexibility to work from home for three days a week when I came back to work after having a new baby. It makes my life much easier and more complete...I think it's a working mom's dream come true."

Balancing the diaper bag and the briefcase is never easy, but at The McGraw-Hill Companies we try to offer an extra hand.
Many of us know firsthand the challenges of new parents (be they first-timers, second-timers or beyond) and we want to help ease the transition. This means family-friendly resources such as flexible work arrangements; child-care—including sick care; discounted before and after-school care; holiday and summer care; backup dependent care; elder-care case management; an extensive suite of higher education planning tools and resources; and maternity, adoption, and paternity leave. The latter includes a new best-in-class paternity leave policy that allows new dads to take three paid weeks of leave.
But don’t just take our word for it.
In 2007, the corporation was named among the top 10 companies on Working Mother magazine’s list of “100 Best Companies for Working Mothers.” This is the third consecutive year that the Corporation has been honored as a "100 Best Company" by the magazine.
Selection to this exclusive listing is based on an extensive application of 700 questions covering arenas such as compensation, child- care and flexibility programs, leave policies and more. It also checked the usage, availability and tracking of programs, as well as the accountability of managers who oversee them.
“I'm extremely proud that The McGraw-Hill Companies has been named one of the top 10 Best Companies by Working Mother magazine," said Harold McGraw III, our chairman, president and CEO. "This recognition speaks to our commitment to helping our employees maintain a work/life balance that both supports their professional development and meets their personal needs. Such a work environment is essential to the continued growth and success of our company and our people.”
