Giving
Through our efforts to become a trusted and contributing member in communities worldwide, we in turn foster a trust and loyalty in our products and services. It's very simple, really.
Our giving programs take on a variety of shapes, including direct grants, in-kind giving, employee matching gifts and volunteerism.
We also work with other companies to encourage them to get more involved in their respective communities. Our Chairman, President and CEO Harold McGraw III currently serves as chairman of the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy, and we
have a strong partnership with the Boston College Center for Corporate Citizenship.
Direct Grants
The McGraw-Hill Companies primarily supports initiatives that enhance financial literacy skills and advance economic empowerment. This addresses a crucial need in childhood education, and gives adults an understanding of basic financial concepts and economic principles.

In-Kind Giving
The corporation contributed close to $41 million dollars through its in-kind giving in 2007, which includes donations through the McGraw-Hill Education Book Donation program and the donation of broadcast time and print advertising space for public service announcements. McGraw-Hill Education has been donating books to non-profit [501 (c) (3)] - qualified organizations for more than
10 years By donating books to various non-profit organizations, McGraw-Hill promotes good will and encourages educational development throughout the world.
Employee Giving Campaign
As part of the corporation’s matching gift program, which augments employees' generosity by matching 1-for-1 employee contributions to a range of nonprofit arts causes, institutions of higher education, financial literacy and adult basic literacy organizations, the corporation also conducts an annual Employee Giving Campaign. In 2007, more than $2.1 million was donated through the Giving Campaign, which matches employee contributions to health and human service not-for-profits. In so doing, the corporation supported employees’ causes in their local communities and doubled the impact of their contributions. |
