The primary focus of The McGraw-Hill Companies grant making is financial literacy, and more broadly economic empowerment. Many of the groups we support, provide professional development to teachers to assist them in incorporating financial literacy into their daily lives and classroom instruction.

Programs that are dedicated to providing opportunities for economic empowerment and financial literacy are well suited as a giving focus for The McGraw-Hill Companies given that we are a leading global information services provider meeting worldwide needs in the financial services, education and business information markets through leading brands such as Standard & Poor's, BusinessWeek and McGraw-Hill Education. Consequently, this focus provides greater opportunities for us to:

  • Align with our corporation's core competencies
  • Leverage resources across all business operations, and
  • Enhance the impact of our grant making
Corporate Contributions and Community Relations will give priority consideration to organizations and projects that:
  • Promote and support excellence in education and learning, with a primary emphasis on financial literacy.
  • Further financial literacy in the communities and markets where the many diverse businesses of The McGraw-Hill Companies operate.
  • Utilize unique applications of innovative and developing technologies.
  • Extend their reach globally.
  • Can be evaluated and can serve as models elsewhere.
  • Are staffed and administered by people with demonstrated competence and experience in their fields.
  • Have been determined tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and qualify as public charities under IRS rules; or are the local country-specific equivalent of a charitable nonprofit organization.
