Grameen Foundation
| | The McGraw-Hill Companies was the lead sponsor of the Grameen Foundation's (GF) First Annual Capacity-building Partner Forum in 2005, which took place in India. This initiative is part of the Foundation's five-year strategic plan to reach 5 million new microfinance clients and ensure that 50% of clients escape poverty within five years of their first loan. The forum brought together 60-75 top executives from 14 GF high growth partners, and included building knowledge and capacity through in-depth training, peer-to-peer roundtables and breakout activities, as well as showcasing both microfinance industry innovations and experts and their success.| view site |

Houston READ Commission
| | Our initial support in 2001 made it possible for the Houston READ Commission to launch a unique joint reading and economic literacy pilot project in 2001. This program helps Houston residents, marginalized by low literacy, learn to read as well as to acquire basic skills that help them understand and manage their personal finances. Now in its sixth year, the program serves its extensive network of more than 100 literacy coalition partner organizations and collaborates with local schools and libraries to teach students and parents about important principles of personal money management. National Council on Economic Education (NCEE)

The NCEE/NAEE/GATE Annual Conference is an annual meeting of more than 500 K-12 teachers and economic educators worldwide. Jump$tart Coalition
| | As a member of the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy, The McGraw-Hill Companies supports the coalition's efforts to ensure that basic personal financial management skills are part of every child's educational experience. Since 2003, The McGraw-Hill Companies has funded a series of teacher training workshops geared to help teachers improve their own personal finance literacy, with the goals of enhancing their comprehension of personal finance, and thereby encouraging them to incorporate personal finance curriculum into their teaching materials. In 2005, the corporation's grant enabled Jump$tart to fund its affiliates in 16 states to conduct teacher training sessions for some 1,500 teachers who reach up to 45,000 students. | view site |

New York Financial Literacy Coalition
| | With support from The McGraw-Hill Companies, the Coalition, a program of W!SE (Working In Support of Education), is conducting a high school Financial Literacy Certification Program in the New York City metropolitan area. This program was created to help teachers implement the NYS Department of Education's newly created personal finance unit in the State's Economics curriculum. The goals of the Certification Program are to enhance teachers' knowledge and application of this unit on finance by creating a financial literacy training and recognition system for students and schools. The program has grown from seven participating high schools in 2003, to 71 schools in 2006 reaching more than 10,000 students, with an estimated 100 schools signed-on for 2007 including added schools in New York City and outside. | view site |

Literacy Partners - New York
| | The McGraw-Hill Companies supports Literacy Partners' Economics for Life Program which infuses financial literacy and numeracy instruction in all of the organization's core basic reading and writing programs for adults and families. Directed by a professional staff, the organization operates with a corps of volunteer tutors trained to meet the specific teaching and problem-solving needs of small groups of students who attend tutoring sessions at a number of locations in New York City. | view site |
