Harold (Terry) McGraw III is chairman, president and chief executive officer of The McGraw-Hill Companies, a leading global financial information and education company that powers the Knowledge Economy. The Corporation had sales of $6.2 billion in 2011.

Mr. McGraw was elected chairman in December 1999; chief executive officer in 1998; and president and chief operating officer in 1993. He has been a member of The McGraw-Hill Companies’ Board of Directors since 1987.

Under his leadership, the Corporation has undergone a complete transformation. McGraw-Hill announced on September 12, 2011, its intention to separate into two public companies: McGraw-Hill Financial, a leading provider of content and analytics to global financial markets, and McGraw-Hill Education, a leading education company focused on digital learning and education services worldwide. McGraw-Hill Financial’s leading brands include Standard & Poor's Ratings Services, S&P Capital IQ, S&P Indices, Platts energy information services and J.D. Power and Associates.

Mr. McGraw, 63, joined The McGraw-Hill Companies in 1980 and has held a number of positions with increasing responsibilities, including vice president, Corporate Planning; publisher, Aviation Week & Space Technology; president, McGraw-Hill Publications Company; and president, McGraw-Hill Financial Services Company.

He serves on the Boards of Directors of United Technologies and Phillips 66. He is chairman of the Emergency Committee for American Trade (ECAT), chairman of the United States Council for International Business, immediate past chairman of the U.S.-India Business Council, a former chairman of Business Roundtable, and vice chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce. He was appointed in November 2009 by President Obama to the U.S.-India CEO Forum and is chairman of the U.S. Trade Representative’s Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations (ACTPN).

Consistent with The McGraw-Hill Companies’ commitment to supporting community and charitable organizations, Mr. McGraw serves on the boards of Asia Society, Carnegie Hall, Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy, Council for Economic Education, New York Public Library, National Organization on Disability, National Academy Foundation, Partnership for New York City, Prep for Prep and the Council for Industry and Higher Education in London.

Mr. McGraw received an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1976 and a B.A. from Tufts University in 1972.
