Internships: How to Apply

Overview

Look for us. If you go to one of the colleges and universities at which we have a recruiting event or attend your school's Career Fair, be sure to look for us. (See our Calendar of On-Campus Internship Events.) We'll have hiring managers and recruiters who can answer your questions about The McGraw-Hill Companies, what it's like to work here, and what they're looking for. Or you can reach out to us via Twitter or Facebook too.

Find an internship that's right for you. Search for internship-specific job postings for an opportunity in the career field and industry you wish to explore: financial analysis, editorial, information technology, marketing, recruiting, web design, and many more!

Apply online.

  • Complete the application for the position you want.
  • First, you'll create a username and password for your candidate profile.
  • Then, you'll need to upload your resume, which will automatically enter some of your personal information, education, and work experience. Be sure to check and make sure it is entered accurately.
  • You'll also have the opportunity to attach a cover letter and, depending on the position, supplementary materials.
  • You will immediately be sent a confirmation of your application via e-mail.
  • Then, local recruiters will look at your application and contact you if you are a match!

Interview.

  • The recruiter will conduct an interview via phone or on-site.
  • This is your chance to find out more about the position as well as a chance for us to start to get to know you.
  • Then, you may be selected to have an in-person or phone interview with the hiring manager.
  • This interview will give you a chance to meet the people you could be working with, get a feel for our work environment, and ask questions about the role and expectations.

The Offer.
Finally, if everything works out, your recruiter will send you a formal offer letter via e-mail or regular mail. This will finalize the pay rate, duration of the internship, who you will report to, and benefits. You still have the opportunity to ask questions, and ultimately, confirm your acceptance of the offer, and join our Internship Program!
