Environment: Engagement With Policymakers

Engagement with Policymakers

The Corporation engages policymakers and regulators, both advocating for positive change, and providing relevant information on construction, energy, and corporate responsibility and sustainability issues. For example, many of the experts on green construction and renewable energy in our McGraw-Hill Construction and Platts businesses provide periodic briefings and communications to key policymakers, assisting them in their leadership and policy efforts on climate change.

The McGraw-Hill Companies is also active with various associations and leadership groups in advocating for green energy and construction initiatives, as well as environmental stewardship policies. For example, as a member of the Business Roundtable, McGraw-Hill has joined 31 other leading U.S. companies in participating in the S.E.E. Change (Society, Environment, Economy) initiative, to promote more effective environmentally responsible guidelines throughout the global business community.

We also joined PREPS (Publishers Database for Responsible Environmental Paper Sourcing) a joint initiative of 20 leading publishers. Together, these companies have set up a database to hold technical specifications and details of the pulps and forest sources for each of the papers they use to help ensure responsible paper sourcing.
